| | Who can apply for the Facilitator Licensing Program? | |
Applicants must first successfully complete the Fundamentals of Davis Dyslexia Correction Workshop, Basic Field Assignments and Basic Supervised Practice Meeting, and have had training or work experience in one or more of the following fields - education, social work, counseling or psychology.

Our training builds on a foundation of basic professional counseling skills that should already be present from previous experience. These include:-

- Willingness to use the Davis methods as a self-sufficient body of principles and techniques without needing to add additional techniques brought from other approaches to treating dyslexia,

| | What skills and knowledge will be gained during a the Facilitator Licensing Program? | |
During training, licensing candidates will gain the following:
- Understanding of how dyslexics think, feel and react to confusion based on the Davis principles.
- Ability to observe and assess what a particular dyslexic client needs.
- Ability to use and adapt the full range of Davis techniques for dyslexia correction in the form of a standard 5-day Davis Dyslexia Correction Program.
- Knowledge and skill in helping clients with conditions such as difficulties with handwriting, maths, dyspraxia, auditory disorientation, and Attention Deficit Disorder.
- Skill in helping a client master the use of the Orientation techniques and Symbol Mastery to the point where the client can become responsible for the correction of his or her own symptoms of dyslexia.
- Support training skills for parents and tutors.
- Methods for organizing the setting up and administration of a Davis Program.

What criteria are used to determine completion of the Facilitator Licensing Program? | |
The criteria for completion of the licensing program includes demonstrated proficiency in:
- articulating and applying the fundamental concepts and principles of the Davis approach to dyslexia correction;
- interviewing and assessing a potential client to determine if the person is able to benefit from the Davis Dyslexia Correction Program;
- providing a client with the tools of Orientation and Symbol Mastery to a satisfactory degree in the context of a 30-hour Davis Dyslexia Correction Program;
- being able to do support training for parents or tutors of a client for the follow-up to a Davis Dyslexia Correction program;
- presenting themselves in their promotional materials with adequate facilities for providing a Davis Dyslexia Correction Program.
