My daughter who is currently in 2nd grad is being threatened with retention. I am 90%sure she is dyslexic. What are our rights and how can we make sure this does not happen. How do I officially get her tested and how long wil it take?

My 7 year old was diagnosed with dyslexia at the end of his second grade year. We decided to hold him back before when knew why he was failing. He was diagnosed through All for children who specializes in this but I have no idea how to help him or what I need to do to help him succeed. The program the clinic suggested is very costly and I can’t afford it. Is there anything that I can do at home to help?

The methods described in the book The Gift of Dyslexia are appropriate for all ages. They were developed by Ron Davis when he was age 38, and initial research was done with adult volunteers. So I would say the book is a good starting point to learn what this approach can offer.
